Which Arabic letters do not join the next letter?
Alif, Daal, Dhaal, Raa, Zaay and Waaw (ا د ذ ر ز و) do not connect to the following letter on their left. They can receive a connection from the preceding letter on their right when that letter permits it.
Do all Arabic letters have four different forms?
No. The form depends on a letter’s position and its connections. The six letters above have standalone and final forms; other letters can also appear in initial and medial forms.
